Leonard "Lone Crow" McGann Passed Away

Leonard McGann has died this morning, Monday, 12 August 2013, at his Red Bud Ridge homestead in Bedford, Virginia. Known as the "Lone Crow," he was a maker of Native American flutes, and was much beloved nationally by the Native American flute community. Perhaps in some ways embodying his "Lone Crow" moniker, he was quirky and mischievous, as well as open, accepting, and loving. He was a skilled and artistic flute maker, and his work is wonderful to see, touch, play, and hear. He will be greatly missed.

SunWatch Flute and Art Festival 16-18 August 2013

The SunWatch Flute and Art Festival is one of two Native American flute festivals in reasonable driving distance from Rochester, NY, held in Dayton, OH (the other being the Potomac Native American Flute Festival in Washington, DC). Whereas PNAFF has a strong emphasis on workshops, SunWatch is the more traditional music festival. Performances on Native American flute are scheduled continuously through the day, with food vendors, Native American flute vendors, and arts and crafts vendors on the grounds of the archeological park. The event is held from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, 16-18 August 2013. Admission $8/day, $15 weekend pass.
