First Meeting of the Finger Lakes Flute Circle

The Finger Lakes Flute Circle will hold its first meeting Thursday, 19 August 2010, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Town of Brighton Brookside School in Rochester, New York. Flute circles foster appreciation and understanding of the Native American flute, as well as other world flute traditions, through playing the Native Flute for each other in a supportive and encouraging setting. (Google Maps / Mapquest waypoint address: 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618).

All sharing an interest in the Native American flute are invited, including all levels of skill, from enthusiastic listeners to beginners to long-time players. Please bring your flute to play! World flutes from other cultures are welcome. We will be enjoying and learning from each other's playing. You will not be required to play the flute, but you are encouraged to make some sound! Bring your hand-carried percussion instruments and drums! Hopefully, there will also be beginner flutes and instruction books available for purchase, if they arrive from the shipper in time.

A $3 contribution is requested to cover the facility rental fee.

Directions: The former Brookside School in the Town of Brighton, Arts & Crafts Room. The entrance to the Brookside School is off Winton Road between Westfall Road and route 590. Look for the Brighton Parks & Recreation sign on the east side of Winton Road. A waypoint address placing you close to the Winton Road entrance to enter into Google Maps or Mapquest is 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618. Do not use the official listed address for directions, 220 Idlewood Road, which will take you to the backside of the building.

  1. This is a great place to go to learn how to play the Native American flute. It is very relaxed, and anyone is welcome from beginners to experts.
