FREE Middle Eastern Drum Workshop with Murat Tekbilek

MURAT TEKBILEK was born into a family of musicians. Since the age of 5, he has studied with his father Omar Faruk and his uncle Ibrahim Turmen (another master musician). With a focus on darbuka, def, bendir and bongos, he has performed in numerous concerts and camps all over the USA. He has had the pleasure of performing with a variety of Turkish, Greek, Armenian, Israeli, American and Lebanese musicians. For the past 10 years he has been on tour with his father’s ensemble and has been playing venues all around the world.

  1. Enter Campus at the Elmwood Ave entrance
  2. At the first STOP sign take a right on to Trustee Road
  3. At the next STOP Sign take a left on to Intercampus drive
  4. Then take a left in to the Library Lot to park
  5. As you enter, the Lot off to the right is the Susan B. Anthony Dorm
  6. Spurrier is located behind the Susan B. Anthony Dorm
  7. Follow the side walk to the left of Susan B Anthony and that will take you to Spurrier
  8. Go down the stairs and through the yellow double doors to the studio

Enter campus from East Avenue at the north entrance (no traffic light), bear right to parking lot north of building. Signs will be posted; enter the door closest to the parking lot.

WorkshopsUilleann pipespenny whistle, guitar, accordion, fiddle, Irish harp, flute, mandolin, concertina, singing, dance, poetry and Irish language instruction.

Each workshop will be led by a facilitator who will provide instruction, share tunes and tips, or just work on playing/singing a few tunes together. Beginners are welcome! If you don’t play an instrument, sing, or speak Irish, you can learn how to get started.

Finger Lakes Flute Circle Meeting Thursday 17 October 2013

The Finger Lakes Flute Circle is meeting Thursday, 17 October 2013, 6:30 p.m. at the Brookside School (Brighton Parks & Recreation), 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618. Alternatively, the official listed address, 220 Idlewood Road, will take you to the other side of the building.

Beginners are welcome! Beginner flutes will be available to try.

We will have a great time playing the Native American flute, drums, rattles, and hand percussion, and enjoying each other's music. A $5 contribution is requested for room rental costs and fees.

We will make great music together. We look forward to seeing you there!
