MURAT TEKBILEK was born into a family of musicians. Since the age of
5, he has studied with his father Omar Faruk and his uncle Ibrahim
Turmen (another master musician). With a focus on darbuka, def, bendir
and bongos, he has performed in numerous concerts and camps all over the USA. He has had the pleasure of performing with a variety of Turkish,
Greek, Armenian, Israeli, American and Lebanese musicians. For the past
10 years he has been on tour with his father’s ensemble and has been
playing venues all around the world.

Directions on Campus
- Enter Campus at the Elmwood Ave entrance
- At the first STOP sign take a right on to Trustee Road
- At the next STOP Sign take a left on to Intercampus drive
- Then take a left in to the Library Lot to park
- As you enter, the Lot off to the right is the Susan B. Anthony Dorm
- Spurrier is located behind the Susan B. Anthony Dorm
- Follow the side walk to the left of Susan B Anthony and that will take you to Spurrier
- Go down the stairs and through the yellow double doors to the studio
