Wednesday 24 April 2013 Finger Lakes Flute Circle Meeting

The Finger Lakes Flute Circle is meeting Wednesday, 24 April 2013, 6:30 p.m. at the Brookside School, 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618. Alternatively, the official listed address, 220 Idlewood Road, will take you to the other side of the buildingNote this is a later date than usual.

Beginners are welcome! Beginner flutes will be available to try.

We will have a great time playing the Native American flute, drums, rattles, and hand percussion, and enjoying each other's music. A $5 contribution is requested for room rental costs and fees.

We will make great music together. We look forward to seeing you there!

March Native American Flute Circle Meeting; Potomac Flute Festival

The early bird registration postmark deadline for the Potomac Native American Flute Festival is March 1, 2013. The festival will be held March 22-24, 2013 in Rockville, Maryland, in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Two-time Grammy winner Mary Youngblood will be performing at the Saturday, March 23 concert, with opening performers including guitarist Larry Mitchell, also a Grammy winner. A number of Finger Lakes Flute Circle members will be attending the festival, and we hope to see you there!

Due to the festival schedule, this month's Finger Lakes Flute Circle meeting is early, Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 6:30 pm, at the former Brookside School in Brighton. Directions are in the sidebar to the right. Beginners are welcome, and beginner Native American style flutes will be available to try out. Bring your flutes, drums, shakers, and hand percussion. A $5 contribution is requested for rental costs and Meetup fees. We will make great music together!

The Finger Lakes Flute Circle is meeting Thursday, 7 February 2013, 6:30 p.m., at the Brighton Parks & Recreation building (former Brookside School), waypoint 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618 (other side of the building is the official address 220 Idlewood Rd). Note this is an early date this month.

Beginners are welcome! There will be beginner Native American flutes you may play.

Finger Lakes Flute Circle Meeting - Thursday 20 December 2012

The next Finger Lakes Flute Circle meeting is Thursday, December 20, 6:30pm at the Brookside School, 1680 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618. Alternatively, the official listed address, 220 Idlewood Road, will take you to the other side of the building.

All experience levels are welcome, including complete beginners. Bring your Native American flutes and hand percussion. Beginner flutes will be available to try out.

First Finger Lakes Flute Circle Concert A Success

The first public concert offered by the Finger Lakes Flute Circle at the Brighton Memorial Library on November 18, 2012 was well received and a great success. The music performance was appreciated and the concert generated much interest in the Native American flute. We will be expecting new flute circle members to be joining us at the next flute circle meeting.

FREE Native American Flute Concert - 18 November 2012 - Brighton Memorial Library

A free Native American flute concert will be performed by Dr. Jefferson Svengsouk and the Finger Lakes Flute Circle at the Brighton Memorial Library, 2300 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618, Sunday, 18 November 2012, 2 p.m. The concert is to raise awareness of therapeutic music at the Palliative Care Program, University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). The concert will be followed by Q&A about the Native American flute, therapeutic music, and palliative care. Dr. Svengsouk is an emergency physician, and hospice and palliative care physician, and has received instruction under Native American flute recording artist R. Carlos Nakai.
